To faithfully implement the spirit of Xi Jinping's important instructions, the significant measures of national strategies such as manufacturing power, S&T power, and auto power, and general requirements of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council for appropriate establishment, operation, and development and for intensifying responsibilities, independent innovation, reform and empowerment, and cooperation and opening up.

China Automotive Innovation Corporation(hereinafter referred to as "CAIC") was founded with a total investment of RMB 16 billion by China FAW Group Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Motor Corporation, China South Industries Group, Changan Auto, and Nanjing Jiangning Jingkai Technology Service Co., Ltd. CAIC has engaged in the R&D of forward-looking, generic, platform-based, and core technologies and products, as well as industry incubation based on the "vehicle terminal + cloud terminal + communication terminal" ecosystem, with a focus on three business fields of intelligent chassis, new energy power, and intelligent networking.

Adhering to the development vision of “R & D of green, low-carbon, intelligent and safe automobile technology with extreme experience to facilitate traveling and enhance life quality” and the holly mission of “leading technological innovation, practicing industry incubation and driving data service,” CAIC is dedicated to building China’s first profitable innovative automobile high-tech enterprise, which safeguards automobile industry’s safety and emphasizes original technology.

Development History
After nearly 2 years of planning, the Company was officially established and put into operation on June 2, 2020, thanks to the careful guidance and thorough promotion of the State Council's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China (MIIT), and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China.
The CAIC establishment and base project kick-off event was held grandly on June 29, 2020, in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Hao Peng, Director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Miao Wei, Minister of MIIT, and Wang Xi, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, also spoke at the ceremony. Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu Province, jointly unveiled the board.
